Hannah’s Sunrise Senior Session at Boone Hall + the Beach Hannah | Charleston, SC

Senior Sessions

Hannah’s senior session felt like such a beautiful reflection of who she is!!! She lives locally here in Charleston and wanted her portraits to feel natural, relaxed and full of the things she genuinely loves: the beach, animals, mossy trees and spending time with the people closest to her. So, we built the morning around exactly that.

We started at the beach right after sunrise, and this portion of the session felt SO Hannah. The dunes, sea grass, soft blue water and early morning light were absolutely beautiful. She brought flowers for a few images, and I loved that little pop of color against the softer coastal tones. Her pink dress in the sand was gorgeous, and the relaxed images near the water felt so effortless and true to her.

She also brought along her whole family AND her best friend, which made the morning even more fun! I always love when the people closest to a senior are part of the experience, and we were able to capture a few sweet images together without taking away from Hannah’s individual gallery. Those little moments always end up feeling extra special later!

Then we headed to Boone Hall to finish the session, and it was the perfect change of pace. The huge trees, hanging Spanish moss and open grounds gave us that soft, Southern feel she wanted. I especially loved her simple white and yellow looks against all of the greenery…they felt so effortless and pretty. And because Hannah loves animals, Boone Hall felt like such a fitting place to finish the morning.

As a Charleston senior photographer, I love when a session feels less like checking off “pretty locations” and more like capturing the senior in places that actually feel like them. Hannah’s gallery had that from start to finish: soft light, natural movement, family, friendship, beach, trees and moss.

Hannah: Thank you so much for trusting me to capture your senior portraits!!! I loved getting to spend the morning with you and your people, and I hope these images feel as natural, joyful and true to you as we hoped they would 🙂

Photographers: Want to learn how I plan sessions around a senior’s personality instead of just using the same locations every time?
