If you follow me on Instagram or we’re friends on Facebook, you probably saw that Drew and I were in the BAHAMAS last week!!! Not only did we have the opportunity to shoot an incredible wedding day (which will be on then blog TOMORROW!), but we took an entire week off and extended our trip into a mini vacation. This time of year is always the beginning of a crazy busy work season that results in very little time off. Because of this, I knew I wanted to take a little bit of a vacation to relax and rejuvenate before the craziness hits…and this trip was exactly what I needed! I am so, so thankful for Chelsey + Marc, our bride and groom, who opened up this opportunity for us when they asked me to shoot their wedding last year…but we will talk more about that in tomorrow’s blog post!!! 🙂
Drew and I flew into the Bahamas on Tuesday morning and started off our trip with some amazing Italian food at Carmine’s. We stayed at the Atlantis resort (where Chelsey + Marc got married!!!), and there are SO many amazing food options…it’s overwhelming. Luckily, we got to try out quite a few on our trip, but Carmine’s ended up being our favorite!!! It just couldn’t be beat. Then, on Wednesday, we got the chance to have a lazy pool day and explore the resort. The entire property is set-up like a giant jungle gym…there are so many incredible things around every corner! Aquariums, rope bridges, beautiful overlooks, ice cream shops, beaches, pools, water slides, dance parties…it’s amazing!!! Drew and I just kept saying we could walk the resort all day every day and never get bored!! We floated through the not-so-lazy river, walked the beach, climbed rocks, ate delicious poolside food and accidentally got insanely sunburnt. Like…REALLY sunburnt. Drew and I are both REALLY fair-skinned…so skipping sun screen was NOT our best idea. But, we loaded up on aloe and ended the second night with Rob Lake’s magic show at the hotel…CRAZY!!!
On Thursday, we shot Chelsey + Marc’s breathtaking wedding day…just wait until you see it tomorrow!!! It has quickly become one of my new favorite weddings and I am so lucky to call them both friends. We ended the night celebrating with the entire bridal party at the hot tub…so much fun!! Then, on Friday (our last full day!!!) we got the chance to swim with DOLPHINS!!! SO. COOL. We got to pet them, swim in the deep pool alongside them and even get pushed across the water by them…it was amazing!! We finished our trip with a delicious Japanese meal at Nobu with the bridal party and then flew out on Saturday afternoon (but not before one final scoop of Ben & Jerry’s + one last walk through the aquarium!!!)
As always, I left my camera in my room when I wasn’t shooting because I wanted to be sure it was a real vacation when it was supposed to be!! So, here are some of my favorite iPhone shots from the trip (and some from our Dolphin Cay experience!!!)
