I still remember the first time I chatted with Chelsey on Facebook. She had just come home from a coaching session with a photographer that we both love and adore, and that photographer suggested that she reach out to me about potentially being my second shooter for the year. At the time, I was actually looking for a permanent second shooter, so we decided to plan a date to get lunch! Chelsey had just gotten engaged to Marc, so the majority of our lunch date was spent chatting all about the proposal, how they met, wedding plans + the excitement of all the fun things happening in her life! She was planning a dream wedding day at Atlantis resort in the Bahamas…I was so excited for her!!! Then, at the end of the lunch, she casually said “oh, by the way, I’ll be emailing you soon about booking you for the wedding!” Uhm…WHAT!? I laughed out loud because I thought she was kidding and said “Chelsey, seriously, don’t feel like you need to do that!!” and she responded with “No, seriously…we’ve wanted you since we started planning!!!” I almost died right then and there. She wanted me to travel with her to the Bahamas to shoot her wedding!? AHH!! Sure enough, a few days later we were all booked and I could not WAIT for April 2016 to come around! Over the next few months, we shot over 15 weddings together and became such close friends. I am so blessed to have Chelsey in my life and even more blessed to have been celebrating alongside her on her wedding day!!
When Drew and I arrived in the bridal suite on the afternoon of the big day…the room was filled with so much joy. Some wedding days become rushed and crazy because of a crunched timeline and things to do…but not this one. Chelsey was intentional about ensuring that she enjoyed every moment of the day from getting ready to the ceremony exit and I am so glad that she did! The girls all sipped mimosas while Chelsey got her hair and makeup done and the constant laughter in the room was contagious. After a first look with her bridesmaids and some stunning bridal portraits, we headed downstairs to meet Marc for the first look…there was not a dry eye nearby! Afterwards, we did a first look with Marc and their daughter, Harper. Again, so many tears!!!!
The breathtaking ceremony took place on Cove Beach where Chelsey and Marc exchanged their own handwritten vows kept in white leather-bound notebooks. We watched the sunset behind the water as Chelsey + Marc said “I do” and captured the most incredible portraits on the rocks following the ceremony. The reception space was adorned with gold sequins, pink peonies and a beautifully styled candy buffet and the night was finished with a confetti canon exit…their big day could not have been more of a dream!
Chelsey + Marc: I could not be more thrilled for you both and I want to say one more HUGE congratulations on finally being Mr. and Mrs. Lux!!! Thank you both for being such wonderful friends and for allowing us to be a part of your incredible day…we love you!
