We had big, beautiful plans for Megan and Tanner’s engagement session…until a WIND STORM forced us to reschedule. They were only in town for a short period of time, so we had a tiny window to make their photos happen…and we couldn’t do it. The wind gusts were over 50mph and knocked power lines down all around Fredericksburg. So, instead of shooting their engagement session like I typically would…we met over coffee and planned their big day just a few months ago.

Sometimes it can feel like a setback when you don’t get to work with the couple before their big day…and it can also sometimes be nerve-wracking to meet them for the first time. But, the second I walked into that meeting with Megan and Tanner, we felt like old friends. These two have the sweetest hearts of anyone I know and can immediately make you feel welcome and loved. I just adore them both!

When we arrived at The English Inn in Charlottesville to capture Megan getting ready, the room was buzzing with joy. All of the bridesmaids were wearing match peony-covered bathrobes and my heart just melted. The groomsmen were so sweet and welcoming throughout the entire morning and everything was at the perfect pace…we even ended up AHEAD of schedule. Craziness!!! Their big day included lots of traveling back and forth…and somehow we ended up with EXTRA time for every single part of the day!

We captured a first look in the garden where they shared their first kiss, portraits on the UVA lawn where they spent their years dating, the ceremony in the chapel that meant so much to them and a reception FULL of the people who loved them most. It could not have been a more beautiful day.

Megan and Tanner are both UVA alum (which is where they met!) and it was SO special for them to get married back on campus!! Loved that they incorporated these into their details 🙂
