One Minor Change to Create a Better Client Experience For Photographers

For Photographers

HopeTaylorPhotography_4450Each time I teach a Hope Taylor Workshop, one of my FAVORITE parts is talking about the importance of an amazing client experience! There are SO many things that you can do to create a unique experience that your clients will never forget and I LOVE talking all about that aspect of my business. But, there is one simple, fail-proof way to improve your client experience TODAY and I’m so excited to share that on the blog today!

Before I book a senior or portrait client, they typically have already gotten to know me pretty well from following me on social media or from reading my blog. That is exactly what I want to happen and it’s the reason that I market so personally online! However, the DOWNSIDE of that can be when you meet for the first time, your client feels like they already know everything about you and have been friends with you for years, but you may not know a lot about them. So, conversation can be tricky when they are asking all about your family and your recent vacations but you know NOTHING about them personally! AND, I want all of my clients to immediately feel like friends, because I want to form a relationship with them that is MORE than just a business-client relationship. So, I have integrated something into my client experience that solves this problem and allows us to be on the same level when we meet so that we can immediately hit it off and feel like we’ve known each other for years!

When a client books with me, after they pay their invoice and sign their contract, I send over a questionnaire for them to fill out so that I can get to know them better and personalize their experience with me. For my seniors, it asks basic questions about favorite colors, stores and foods, but it also asks more in-depth questions like “What are your favorite ways to spend your free time?”, ” Are there any personal items you would like to include at your session? Why?” and “What are your favorite and least favorites features about yourself?” Answers to these questions allow me to do things like better choose locations that match their style and personality, but they also allow me to have conversation starters so that we both can ask about each other’s lives when we meet. If I can pull a piece from the studio and say “this made me think of you!” or tell them that “I knew this location would be a perfect fit after reading your questionnaire!”, my clients know that I CARE about them and that I took the time to get to know them on a personal level and make their experience custom…it’s a win-win!

I use Honeybook as my business management software to send these questionnaires to my clients and absolutely LOVE it! You can use THIS link to try Honeybook for FREE and get 50% off of your first year! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far! XO!
