Miss Charleston Pageant Portraits with The Pink Figgy | Charleston Senior Portrait PhotographerI honestly was not sure if Bailie and Braxton’s senior sessions were going to be able to happen…and that made this shoot feel like SUCH a miracle!!! They flew all the way in from Tennessee for their portraits, and the forecast for their entire five-day stay in Charleston said storms. On the day of our original shoot, the weather looked clear, everyone got dressed and ready, we drove all the way to our first location…and then it started severe thunder-storming. Literally…everyone at Boone Hall Plantation was running to their cars from the lightning. The most Charleston weather story ever!!!

So, we stayed “on call” waiting for any window where the weather might clear up. And somehow, not only did we miss the rain…but we got full-fledged sunshine!!! It ended up being the most beautiful, jam-packed day with TWO senior sessions in one. We started at Boone Hall Plantation, which was my very first time ever photographing a client there, and it was absolutely dreamy. Boone Hall is such a historic Charleston location, and it is also known for being featured in The Notebook, which makes it even more iconic. Braxton specifically wanted photos with the famous driveway of trees, and I was so excited we were able to bring that vision to life!

After Boone Hall, we made our way to Hampton Park to capture as many florals as possible. The park was showing off for us, and it gave us such a pretty, colorful backdrop for the next part of their session. Then, we headed downtown to meet up with The Pink Figgy car for the most beautiful set of portraits with a pink cap and gown and a floral installation by Pop and Palette. I mean…does it get any cuter!? We finished the day exploring cobblestone streets downtown, and it truly felt like we squeezed every bit of Charleston magic into one shoot. Between Boone Hall, Hampton Park, The Pink Figgy, florals, cap and gown photos and cobblestone streets, this was SUCH a special day and such an honor to photograph. It was the perfect reminder of why I love being a Charleston senior photographer…even when the weather makes us work for it!!!

I know the weather gave us quite the adventure, but I am so thankful we were able to make it happen and capture so many beautiful locations in one day.
