Sophie’s sunrise senior session started bright and early at 7am at the beach, and it was SUCH a beautiful morning!!! She and her family found me on TikTok, which is always so fun, and they wanted her session to highlight a mix of nature, mossy trees and those little pops of Charleston color. I loved that vision so much because it gave us the chance to create a gallery with tons of variety while still keeping everything soft, natural and cohesive.

We started at the beach while the morning light was still pretty and calm, which was the perfect way to begin before the Charleston heat really kicked in. From there, we headed downtown to capture some of the colorful buildings and classic Charleston backdrops, then ended at the park with all of the nature, greenery and mossy trees they were hoping for. We fit SO much into this shoot…and somehow ended right on time as the heat started to pick up!

Sophie also had her makeup done by Silhouette On Site, and she looked absolutely beautiful from the very beginning of the session. I always love when seniors choose professional hair and makeup because it helps them feel confident, polished and ready for a full morning of portraits. Sophie’s look photographed so beautifully in every location, from the beach to downtown to the park.

This session was such a good reminder of why sunrise shoots can be so worth the early alarm. We had soft morning light, quieter locations, a little bit of beach, a little bit of downtown color and the prettiest natural backdrops to finish. It felt like the perfect mix of everything Sophie wanted her senior portraits to be!
