Ada’s Boone Hall and Sullivan’s Island Senior Portraits Ada | Charleston, SC

Senior Sessions

Ada’s senior session was one of those Charleston shoots where we had to roll with the punches from the very beginning!!! The forecast was calling for severe storms, so we made the last-second decision to shoot much earlier than originally planned…and I was SO grateful that Ada was along for the ride. She was flexible, easygoing and completely willing to pivot with us, which made all the difference on a day where the weather had a mind of its own!

And when I say we just beat the storms…I mean we JUST beat the storms!!! We started the first portion of her senior portraits at Boone Hall Plantation, which gave us such a beautiful, classic Charleston backdrop. Between the famous driveway, the greenery and all of the Southern charm, it was the perfect place to begin. But as soon as we wrapped up there, the black storm clouds started rolling in behind us, and we knew we were racing the weather.

From there, we headed to Sullivan’s Island beach for the second half of Ada’s session. I am so glad we were able to make it happen because the beach portion of her gallery turned out SO beautiful. There is something about soft stormy light at the beach that can feel so dreamy and dramatic in the best way. We moved quickly, used every pretty pocket of light we could find and wrapped right as the rain arrived. It truly felt like the storm followed us from one location to the next, but somehow we stayed one step ahead just long enough!

Even though the day did not look exactly like the original plan, Ada’s session is such a good reminder that beautiful images can still happen when things feel a little chaotic. We had to move fast, think creatively and trust the process…and I am so glad we did! Between Boone Hall Plantation, Sullivan’s Island and Ada’s willingness to go with the flow, we were still able to create so many gorgeous portraits before the storms rolled through.

Ada: Thank you so much for being so flexible and trusting me through such a wild weather day! You were such a joy to photograph, and I am so glad we were able to beat the storms and capture these images for you. I hope you love scrolling through some of my favorites 🙂
