Loralei’s senior session landed on one of the very first days that actually felt like FALL in Charleston…and it could not have been more perfect for her!!! It was chilly, breezy, grey and we even had a rain cloud or two rolling through, which just so happens to be Loralei’s favorite kind of weather. I always love when the day itself ends up matching a senior’s personality and vision so perfectly!
We started at the library, which felt SO true to Loralei. The shelves of books, framed artwork, cozy little corners and classic details gave this part of her gallery such a thoughtful, timeless feel. Her polka dot blouse with the black satin skirt was the perfect look for this location…a little vintage, a little academic and completely her. I especially loved getting to photograph her upstairs among all of the books!
From there, we headed over to Hampton Park for a completely different look. The huge oak trees, winding branches, hanging moss and all of that greenery gave us the most beautiful Lowcountry backdrop. Her denim dress and brown boots felt PERFECT for the cooler weather and made this part of the session feel extra fall-ish without trying too hard. The breezy, overcast afternoon gave everything such a soft look that I looooved.
We also sprinkled in a few family photos throughout the session, which is always so special. I love when seniors use this season as an excuse to get updated photos with the people they love most…especially because senior year feels like such a big transition for the entire family, not just the senior!
As a Charleston senior photographer, I love that every session can feel completely different depending on the senior. Loralei’s gallery was not about bright sunshine and colorful florals…it was cozy, bookish, natural and a little moody in the BEST way. Between the library, the grey fall weather and those epic Hampton Park oak trees, this entire session just felt so genuinely HER.
Loralei: Thank you so much for trusting me to capture your senior portraits!!! I loved getting to create something that felt so personal to you, from starting in the library to embracing the chilly Charleston weather and ending underneath those gorgeous oak trees. I hope you love scrolling through some of my favorites 🙂
